Who Killed Cindy James? A Woman’s Story of Persecution and Death

Seal (Canada) 1992

On June 8, 1989, the body of 44-year-old nurse Cindy James was found in an abandoned lot. She had been hogtied, drugged and apparently strangled. Yet police concluded her strange death was a suicide. For the previous seven years, she had reported continual threats, harassment escalating to a sexual assault – could her tormentor have been close to home as she feared? This account draws on interviews with her family, ex-husband, key investigators, and, for the first time, Cindy’s diary to suggest the answer was more complicated.
